When I first wrote this song, I wrote about the promises that God has made - to prosper us, provide for us, care for us. I also wrote about the promises we make to God - with good intent, but when times get hard, we forget.
Since writing it, this song has come to mean much more than just the idea of promises - it's really about FAITH.
The focus isn't about the promise to be claimed at the end. It's about how DIFFICULT faith can be during times of trouble. How even when you don't FEEL like you're worth it..., that you're good enough, that you DESERVE the beautiful promise..., that you can STILL hold on to that sliver of hope and KEEP THE FAITH.
